Webinar: The Great NXT Migration

A few highlights from the conversation include:

• The transition to NXT is about changing how you work, not moving your data. Your underlying data remains in the same database, but the way you access and interact with it is changing. That makes this transition a good opportunity to look more closely at how your data is organized and whether it will continue to work well for your team.
• Testing workflows is an important part of getting ready. For database administrators, understanding how common processes work from the end user’s perspective can make the transition much smoother. Testing things like actions, portfolios, Work Centers, and gift processing can also uncover processes or data that need attention before your team fully relies on NXT.
• There is still time to build confidence in NXT, but the transition is coming. While Database View remains useful for some processes today, more functionality is becoming available in NXT and the eventual goal is for teams to work entirely in the web view. Using this time to understand your workflows, test what works, and identify gaps can help your team feel prepared when Database View is sunsetted.
• NXT can give fundraisers and managers more visibility into their own data. The Work Center and other tools provide access to live portfolio and gift information without relying on a database administrator to continually pull and distribute spreadsheets. This creates more opportunities for staff to take ownership of the information they use every day.
• The transition is also a data health opportunity. Working in both views can reveal duplicates, inconsistent information, and other data issues that may have been easier to overlook before. Staying on top of duplicates and regularly checking data in both NXT and Database View can help keep your database healthy throughout the transition.
